Johnson Water Improvement District (JWID)
Johnson Water Improvement District is a government entity of the State of Utah established in 1984 from the Johnson Water Association which was a private water company. JWID provides drinking water from Upalco to Independence and from Roosevelt to Pleasant Valley.
We provide water to 930 connections in Duchesne and Uintah counties.
We have over 180 miles of pipe in the ground in our system.
Out water comes mainly from the Duchesne Valley Regional Water Treatment Plant , but also from the Upper Country Water Improvement District and from the Ute Tribe Water System for our Independence area.
Our system is goverened by a board of five board members who over see four precincts with one board member who is an at large board member over the whole system.
We provide a substantial amount of water to industry in the process of extracting oil and gas.
We participate in the use of the Victory Pipe Line which is operated by the Duchesne County Water Conservancy District, and we are one of the largest users of the pipeline, Victory Pipe line serves as the backbone of Culinary Water distribution in Duchesne County. It transports water from the Duchesne Valley Regional Water Treatment Plant on the banks of Starvation reservoir to tanks all the way to Roosevelt.
